Why do I need to do this?
Since April 2022, it’s been mandatory for certain businesses and franchises to include calorie information on their menus. This requirement applies to businesses that meet the following criteria:
- Employ >250 employees at the start of the financial year.
- Sell food for immediate consumption, either on-site or for takeaway.
- Sell food that is ready to eat without further consumer preparation.
Exemptions apply to businesses focused solely on alcohol sales with no food offering, or where franchises have the freedom to determine their own food offerings.
