What We Check Before Approving a Restaurant Menu
To ensure a high-quality and trustworthy experience for you, we review every menu carefully. Here's what we look for:
🥘 Clear Ingredient Information
Every menu item must list its ingredients.
Items with missing ingredient info will not be approved.
🌱 Dietary & Suitability Labels
Each item is checked for dietary info (e.g. gluten-free, dairy-free).
We ensure clear tags for whether items are vegetarian, vegan, or suitable for specific diets.
🍽 Correct Food Categories
We organise the menu so it’s easy to navigate:
Mains: Full meals (e.g. curries, burgers, grain bowls, BYO meals)
Sides: Smaller dishes (e.g. chips, dips, small salads)
Desserts: Sweet treats (e.g. cake, ice cream)
Drinks: All beverages (e.g. tea, juice, cocktails)
Other: Extras (e.g. sauces, meal kits, branded products)
🖼 Images for Menu Items
All items on the menu must have an image
We check that food images are clear and do not contain:
Promotional offers
Text or writing
Logos (unless on packaging)
Allergen or nutrition symbols
🌍 Eco-Friendly Tags
If a restaurant marks an item as eco-friendly, we:
Accept the tag, unless it's clearly not sustainable.
Examples we do not accept as eco-friendly:
Branded snacks (e.g. KitKat, Walkers)
Branded plastic bottles or cans (e.g. Coca-Cola)
Items in polystyrene or heavy plastic
If it’s unclear, we’ll double-check with the restaurant.
🍷 Alcohol & Age-Restricted Items
Alcoholic drinks must include:
ABV (alcohol by volume) information
An “age-restricted” tag
🚫 CBD Products
CBD products are not allowed and will be removed from menus.
⚠️ Allergen Information
We ensure that restaurants provide allergen info for the 14 legally required allergens:
Celery
Gluten-containing cereals
Crustaceans
Eggs
Fish
Lupin
Milk
Molluscs
Mustard
Nuts
Peanuts
Sesame
Soya
Sulphites
Restaurants are legally required to declare these.
📦 Fragile Item Tagging
Items that are delicate (e.g. soups, teas, cakes) are marked as “Fragile.”
More robust items (e.g. salads, sandwiches) are marked as “Not Fragile.”
If your menu meets the requirements above, then your menu will automatically be approved.
If your menu does NOT meet the requirements listed above, then your menu will be rejected and our support team will email you with the reason and next steps to fix it.
