In July 2020 the government announced a series of new measures to help restaurants and cafés that provide food services (both takeaway and dine in). These include a cut in the rate of VAT for businesses serving food to diners, effective from 15th July 2020 until 30th September 2021. This VAT rate change affects your City Pantry orders delivered between these dates, irrespective of when your order was placed and will be visible on your invoices from 15th July 2020.
For City Pantry customers, this temporary reduction in the VAT rate only applies to the following offerings:
- Hot takeaway food for consumption off the premises on which they are supplied; and
- Non-alcoholic beverages for consumption off the premises on which they are supplied
Each of our Vendor Partners will be making the decision on how to apply these changes. City Pantry, as an agent in your transaction with the restaurant, is not in a position to influence the decision our vendor partners make.
The VAT rate of 20% applied to your City Pantry service or delivery fees is unaffected by these changes.
